Hello and welcome to The Culture Project. Hope everyone is doing well! There will be no fx(hash) weekly update today. I’ve been really busy these last few weeks with my real life. I know, lame. Working five days a week. Wife, kids, hobbies, & side jobs. I’ve come to really enjoy it all, but there isn’t enough time to do everything I need to do. I’ve added to many new hobbies and stretched my self thin. From AI, Stable Diffusion, and other random things I have started to mess with. I’ve had to take a step back and assess the things I want to focus on. I’ve been doing a lot more photography again. Something I have neglected for a while, but something I love. I shoot some real-estate stuff from time to time, but lately I’ve been shooting some aerial photos with a drone. It’s been a lot of fun to mess with and learn. I’m shooting more again and enjoying the process of it all.
With all that said, I’m going to push back the release of the Brush Strokes V0. I don’t really think this is a big deal, but if you disagree please reach out and let me know. This project has been a promise to Brush Strokes holders way before I took over and it still stands. I just need a little more time to get caught up with everything. I’m aiming towards the end of next month, August. I’m going to Marfa in September and I would love to have it out before then. I know I’ll be super busy when I get back from that trip. As I will be writing another article covering that adventure. If you are going to Marfa, I would love to meet you. Please reach out and let me know. I want to try and take pictures with a lot of people from this space on this trip.
I’m still writing, but also writing a lot more. Working on some big articles to release this month and next. One artist I’ve already mentioned that I’ll be writing about is Kim Asendorf. I’m really excited about this article and what I have so far. It’s been a lot of fun researching his work and talking to him. I’m just waiting on some high res videos from him to finish up. I posted a video to twitter a few weeks back and got a response from him.
Kim Asendorf’s Monogrid video by me
Next month I will be releasing an article covering Harvey Rayner’s new project, Quasi Dragon Studies. It will be released on Verse Works at the end of August. It’s an incredibly unique and beautiful project with some awesome mechanics involved for the mint. You will play a role in creating the final form of your art. A new and interesting way to have co-creation between the artist and the minter. Follow the verse.works link to read up on it. I will have an in-depth write up on it before it’s release. A few images below to tease you a bit more.
Quasi Dragon Studies Output.
Multiple tiles put together to create this final piece or art.
Quasi Dragon Studies Output
A lot more tiles were used to create this one. There are “blank” tiles as well that help some of the shapes and colors flow out.
Like I said, this project is beautiful and unique. These are made by combining multiple tiles to get a final output for your NFT. Once combined and minted, the output is permanent. I’m really excited about this project and it’s possibilities.
With the market being in it’s state and having all time lows in NFT purchases. I’ve been slowly accumulating grails I’ve always wanted. Buying into a few alt coins while their low. No real timing, just good old DCA (dollar-cost averaging). I believe in this space, the technology, and the art. The current state of things sucks, but I think it will get better. I’ve been in it for a long time now. I don’t stress any more, just DCA during the lows and hope for better times. It’s a special kind of copium, but it works for me. Here are a few things I’ve collected recently.
I’ve written about Ty Vek several times, but still wanted to show off two things I recently got of theirs.
This piece was part of the Ilusiones Arbóreas exhibition that was held in Valencia, Spain. I minted a few until I got my Zancan. I was hoping for the rare piece, but I’m happy with this beauty. Any time I have a chance to collect something from him, i’m going to. Love his work.
I was able to get a Farbteiler a while back. It’s up there with some of my favorite pieces in my collection. After getting it I knew I was going to snag a Punktwelt at some point. I feel like they are a pair that had to go together.
That brings us to a little bit of photography before we get out of here. This weekend I was able to shoot a few photos of an abandoned house. Saw it and stopped by after some real-estate shoot we did. Then later that night I went out with my Dad and shot some aerial photos with a drone. It was a lot of fun sweating our asses off while taking photos and hanging out. This building looks like it may have been a store on the bottom floor, while someone lived on the top floor.
I always find the beauty in nature taking back over. I feel like we are guests here and we don’t treat it like that enough. I didn’t get to spend a lot of time at this place. It was 100 degrees out and we had just been working for several hours. I hope to go back and explore the inside of the building soon.
We went and flew right before the sun went down. This festival is usually pretty packed. Not as many people out with this heat. We went back up after the sun went down. Not sure which one I like more at this point.
Little bit higher and framed a little differently.
There’s a really nice hotrod and sports car section every year. Made sure to get a few of them. Messing with the roads and the lines they create through the photo. Can’t wait to fly some more and try out some other kinds of places to shoot.
